What Are Lishi Picks?

Lishi pick & decoders are specially designed lock picks for vehicles.

They are over 100 different Lishi picks and each one is designed to fir the different makes and models of vehicles on the market.

They were invented by a Chinese man who patented the invention.

Not only are you able to pick the lock but you are also able to DECODE the lock by determining what depths each disc or wafer has in the sequence of the lock.

This will allow you to create a key to the lock without dismantling the lock should you wish.

How Do Lishi Pick & Decoders Work?

In this Lishi lock pick guide, I will explain HOW they work and also HOW you can use them.

Each car lock has a different profile of the keyway on the door locks and ignition lock.

In other words, the shape of the keyway is different depending on makes and models and even date of registration.

When the correct pick is inserted into the correct lock, it allows you to then put a “turning tension” on the lock so you “mimmick” the action of turning a key.

You then use the arms of the Lishi pick to manually lift up (or push down) each wafer or disc so that the lock can be opened.

The video below is the best example we have found of an explanation for this process.

A Step By Step Guide To Lishi Picking:

Step 1: Determine the correct pick you need for the job.

You can do this by simply entering in the make, model and year of the car into a website that sells Lishi lock picks – I will show you a great resource at the end of this picking guide where you can save $1,300 on Lishi picks!

Once you have determined the correct pick, (and you own the pick) you can move on to step 2.

If you’re worried about not carrying the correct pick – you can purchase the Lishi Full Set by clicking here.

STEP 2: Insert the pick into the lock and apply tension.

The only way to describe how much tension you need to apply is by imagining how much tension you would need to turn a real key in a car door.

Not many people are used to this due to the introduction of remote locking and unlocking but either way, you get the idea..

You need to apply not too little tension but not too much tension!

Only with practice will you discover how much tension you need.

STEP 3: Look for the “solid” numbers and leave the “springy” numbers alone.

The easiest way to explain this is the following:

While you have tension applied (either counter clockwise or clockwise) pick up one of the arms of the Lishi pick and start feeling each number.

If you feel that it is springy – leave it alone.

If you feel it is solid – gently push up (or down) on that number until you hear a click.

You will also feel the plug of the lock turn a tiny fraction.

Now you just need to go along all of the numbers using the arms and feel if it is springy or not.

You click all the solid ones until the lock opens – it’s that simple.

A Lishi Lock Pick Guide To Problems When Picking

Feels too solid and you can’t make it click?

You are applying too much turning tension when trying to click the number – release a bit of tension as you click up or down and then reapply the tension once it has clicked so you don’t re-lock it.

All numbers are “springy” but lock not opening?

You have OVER picked a number or 2.

You need to be more gentle when you pick the numbers and not force them up or down too far.

Imagine you are just trying to click it over a tiny notch – like the thickness of a needle.

No need to be heavy handed – be gentle and go with the feeling.

Reset the lock – remove the pick – insert the pick and start again.

Can’t feel if it’s either springy or solid? Not sure?

If you can’t get any feeling – firstly double/triple check you are using the correct pick.

Then you’ll need to apply MORE turning pressure when trying to pick – this will bind up the wafers more and give you more indication if it’s sprung or not.

Can’t pick it to save your life?

Relax – go outside – take a break.

Take a breather and come back when you feel more relaxed.

Spray some WD40 or GT85 into the lock and try again.

BE GENTLE AND MAKE SURE YOU GO OVER THE SAME NUMBERS OVER AND OVER AGAIN – EVEN IF YOU’VE ALREADY PICKED THEM!

Still can’t pick it?
